I am a retired English teacher who lives--happily--in an old brick farm house in The Plains, Ohio. I loved teaching. I used to say (rather self-righteously, I now realize), "Teaching is what I AM, not just what I DO." I have discovered that I "am" many other things besides a teacher. I am a traveler (Italy and Key West are my favorite places to visit). I am a cook (lately, I have dedicated myself to mastering the art of pasta-making); and I am a lover of delightful wines.
I also love spending time with my family and friends, reading books, watching movies and some TV shows (Game of Thrones, Justified, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Major Crimes, and--above all others--The Walking Dead), listening to music, and just relaxing in my over-stuffed rocker.
I am not disciplined enough to be a writer, but occasionally I become inspired and turn my thoughts into a poem, story, or essay. More frequently, I write when I am perplexed, trying to write my way into a sense of understanding and equanimity.
